Mattel Recall

Tonight Mattel has announced another recall for some of there toys. Does anyone else agree with me that this is ridicules to say the least! What is going on at Mattel! Words can not even express how I feel. I think if I have to go through little man’s toys one more time I will scream. How does a large company like Mattel not catch this before our children get these toys. I do love a lot of there toys. I grew up with Mattel Barbie and other toys form them. What do you do as a parent? I am so glad that we do live in America and have other options. If we wanted to we could boycott Mattel and still have so many options for our children that are safe. How many more times do we have to see Bob Eckert give us a feel good message?

Busy Bugs and Little Man

My mother in-law gave little man Discovery Toys Busy Bugs for Christmas two years ago. This was an awesome gift. Within a few months little man could tell me what all the bugs where, and there color. Strawberry Smoothies

Smoothies can be made in many ways. Mine is simple, and I always get compliments on how good it is. So now you can try it for yourself. Please let me know what you think.

Ingredients:
1 lb of frozen strawberries
Juice (any kind, note if you use Orange Juice you will defiantly taste the OJ)

Fill blinder 2/3 of the way full with frozen strawberries

Now fill blinder 1/3 of the way with juice

Blend, and add more juice if needed

Enjoy!!

Maryland Cream of Crab Soup

Yes, we Marylanders are know for our CRABS. We enjoy them in may ways. The most common is steamed, and crab cakes. There are so many other ways that we eat them. But this time of year we love to curl up with is hot bowl of cream of crab soup and some good bread. This soup is made many ways but I will share my recipes with you.

Ingredients:
1 lb of crab claw meat (it has more flavor then the lump meat that most people use)
1 stick of butter
2 tablespoons of cornstarch
1 quart of heavy wiping cream
1 cups of milk
3 tablespoons of Old Bay or add to taste (must have, will make a huge difference)

Step 1
Make a basic rue.
Place a large pot on the stove. Heat to Med. low. Place butter in pot stir until it has melted. Now add the cornstarch. Blend well. You want a nice smooth, creamy, and thick consistency. Make sure that the heat is not to high this soup can burn easily.

Step 2
Now you want you soup to be creamy not watery looking.
Add the quart of heavy wiping cream. Mix in well. Now add the milk, and continue to stir.
Bring the soup to where it is hot. Be careful not to bowel to long it may burn. Let is set for a few min.
You can adjust the thickness by adding ether cornstarch, cream or milk.
Cornstarch will thicken it, and cream or milk will thin it down.

Step 3
Add the Old Bay and stir it in well. Now add the crab meat. Let it heat through while gently stirring. Once the crab is hot enjoy.

The Little Man and the Swiffer Duster

We have recently given the little man a few chores to do around the house that he wasn’t doing before. I don’t usually buy the new latest and greatest products, but I did buy on new one. It is really cool! The little man can now dust the hose with the Swiffer Duster. It is the perfect size and it is safe for him to use. We have one that does not have the sprayer. Its awesome the little man loves it! He is now dusting the whole house. I know the newness will ware off, but I am going to enjoy it while I can.

Cleaning supply: CLR

A cleaning supply that you should have is called CLR. It is great on kitchen sinks, and faucets. It will strip all of the gunk off of whatever you use it on!

Icing Cakes

The other day I made a cake for a bridal shower. I got so may compliments on how good it tasted. One friend said “It’s not homemade icing!?” Honestly I have never made a cake or icing for a cake from scratch. These women have and that is the only way that they cook so it felt good to get all of the compliments.

Now for the secret. It was a cake mix and store bought icing. The cake was simple but it was beautiful. All I did was melt the icing in the microwave for just a few seconds and then pour it on the cake and let is sit for a minute. The cake was a white cake and cream cheese. Now a good cake is my chocolate cake. That is if you like chocolate, and what women doesn’t.

You buy Betty Crocker’s Deviled Food cake mix and Milk chocolate icing. Bake the cake as directed. Then nuke the icing for just a few seconds in the microwave. Let the cake cool a little bit. Place cake on platter. With a wooden spoon stick the handle into the cake and make little holes that go through it. now slowly pure your icing onto the cake. Only do a little bit at the time and let it sit for a minuet. Once the icing has set pore more on. Continue until you have put all the icing that you want on the cake. Now serve.

It is usually still a little warm. O and don’t for get the glass of milk!

Arundel Mills Mall Security

Tonight I am not laughing. I am very upset at the moment. I feel like I was taken advantage of. Now with that said I hate when people are rude. I hate it more so when the person who is being rude has a badge.

I had dune nothing wrong. Today I was at Arundel Mills Mall with some friends, and as we where walking out to our cars we noticed that the security was around them. As we approached we saw that the front of the car next to mine had been almost totally destroyed by fire! Lucky for me my car was still intact. No use asking what happened it was obvious. So I looked my car over and so did a friend who is a mechanic. I then went to take a picture with my phone. They always tell you to do this. Immediately the police or security guard who ever he was told me that I was not allowed to take pictures. I was speechless! I said excuse me why? He said that it was because I was not allowed to, and they had already taken pictures, done a report, and that they would give me a case number.

He was rude in the way that he spoke to me and could care less about me. My car did have some melted plastic on it, water had gotten into the car and got the car seat wet, and it was covered in ashes, not to mention if there are scratches. He said that the fire men had checked my car and said that nothing was wrong with it. We all think that he was on a power trip. He was a elderly man not that that really means anything. So I did get the the case number and the name of the other guard. Needless to say I have already left a message for the officer and that I was the pictures and to know why I was told that I could not take pictures. We will see what happens.

I am very tempted to fined out what the other mans name is and speak to his supervisor about his attitude, and contact the mall about the situation. I am a customer at YOUR mall and I am going to be treated like that. That is not right!

O hey and by the way my friend had taken pictures before he said anything. So I do have my own pictures. This is a mall that has security guards driving around the parking lot. Yet they have the highest crime rate between the other malls in my area for theft. What is wrong with this picture?

Through my experience today it looks like they don’t care. If there is a next time I will take pictures. Don’t get me wrong I like police and security guards they have helped me many times. I just don’t like the position that he was putting me in. Feeling helpless.

Discovery Toys: New Fall Toy

I went to our monthly meeting tonight for Discovery Toys and got to play with some of the new fall toys. One of the ones that I really liked was HEAD, SHOULDERS, KNEES, AND TOES. This is a multi-sensory set. There are 4 wooden puzzles in a lunchbox style case, and it also comes with a book and CD. This is a cool toy. The puzzle pieces are magnetic so they stick to the lunchbox. Great for car rides. Children will be simulated through sight, sound, and touch as there visual and auditory learning is reinforced.
